Misc. Monday

Apparently the only way I can blog these days is in bullet point form.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Not gonna lie, I've been struggling with what else to write. I've been distracted multiple times and I can't think of what to say.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Tonight at dinner Mr. B asked me what my plans are for tomorrow and I said "I need to buy some laundry detergent".
How's that for a busy day?!
Try not to be too jealous.

 - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Speaking of, what detergent do you use?
Here's the thing...once you go pod there's no turning back.
Am I right, or am I right?
All it takes is one time using a pod and suddenly pouring detergent into a hole seems like way too much work.
And this is what we call a first world problem.
Like, to the max.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

My laundry is finally put away just in time for more laundry to be folded and put away.
Circle of life.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We had our annual little family weekend away at the beach a couple weekends ago.
It was perfect.
I'm still catching up on pictures, but I got some keepers.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm still not pregnant. Bring on month 4...

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm thinking about starting a fertility facebook group again if anyone is interested! I've received a few emails {sorry for not responding yet!} from other ladies who have been struggling.
Knowing you're not alone on this stupid roller coaster is so helpful!

- - - - - - - - - - - -

We took the siding off the house this weekend.
And by "we" I mean Mr. B, our dads, my brother and a friend.
And the new siding isn't being put on for 3 weeks so...that's attractive.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Everyone loves to be the classy house in the neighborhood that's wrapped in paper.
Especially one where the paper is upside down on half your house.
I think we get bonus points for that?
My dad and brother aren't attentive to details and Mr. B and his dad are.
I'll let you guess who did the top half and who did the bottom.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Projects like these always make you realize how awesome family and friends really are though!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Tonight I made a delicious and super easy dinner- courtesy of Pinterest, of course!
I used red potatoes, green beans, carrots and 3 chicken breasts. Put it all in a pan, I used half a packet of italian dressing, 1/2 stick of butter and drizzled some olive oil. Covered with foil, baked at 375 for 45 minutes. I added some feta and voila! We all loved it! Next time I'd add more veggies though, it seemed like a lot at the time, but the after it cooked it didn't seem like that many and we definitely could've eaten more.

- - - - - - - - - - -

I finally conquered the craft area of our basement today.
It only took me 9 months.
Because who wants to waste their time cleaning the basement during nap time??
Not me.
But it had to be done.
It's all mismatched and not the prettiest, but at least it's clean!

- - - - - - - - - - - -

Mr. B is getting a new car and I'm jealous.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've been loving my time off from Captured. It was definitely the right decision!

- - - - - - - - - - - -

These back to school things keep getting me all emotional.
Thank the Lord I still have time!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm obsessed with Timehop. If you don't have that app., get it.
It's so bittersweet, but I love it.
Love it.
Especially for someone who has a terrible memory and who is beyond behind on the good ol' baby books.
A year ago yesterday Adalyn had her first little piggies!
That's insane.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

What's more insane is she just turned 21 months.
3 months until the big T-W-O.
Ridiculous.

Thursdays Thoughts

Yesterday we celebrated 4 years of marriage!!
It feels much longer- in a good way!

We ordered take out from one of our favorite pizza places and snuggled with our favorite girl.
I love living life with these two and I wouldn't want to spend our night any differently.

Okay, that a little bit of a lie.
But I do love living life with them!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm not pregnant. Again.
Happy Anniversary
On to take 3.....
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Adalyn recently turned 20 months!!!
You better believe the party planning has started and I may or may not have already made some purchases.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Adalyn is officially potty trained, with the exception of night time.
I will write a more detailed post soon, but she was ready and made it easy!

 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It's ridiculous how fast summer goes by. We only have a couple more times to enjoy the lake.
I'm thankful for seasons, I feel like they come at the perfect time.
With the exception of winter.
That's last wayyyy too long.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We love Puddle Jumpers.
Best floaties. ever. ever.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I don't feel like cooking, but there's chicken in the fridge that will go bad if I don't.
Lame.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We had fun blueberry picking this morning.
I enjoyed it so much more than strawberry picking.
Like, tons more.

It was a little cool out and the perfect reminder of what's to come.
But not yet.

 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I never update my phone and the other day I finally did.
And of course, now one of my lifeline favorite apps isn't working.
If it ain't broke....

And now, Instagram is stuck on waiting.
I've seriously tried every.thing. to fix it.
Next up is to restore my phone to factory settings.

In the meantime I feel like my life is stuck on waiting.
I feel lost.
I feel like everyone else is probably lost, too.
No one knows where we are, what we are eating, what Adalyn is wearing...
Not sure how they're surviving, because I'm struggling.
More than I should be....

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I love that my parents have farm animals- feeding the goats with Mimi is something she looks forward to.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm in love with her and this picture

the end.

Vacation with a Toddler: 1 Day

After four days of vacationing with a monkey,
I was finally able to enjoy one day of vacation with a toddler.
The type of vacation I had expected to have.

For the most part, Adalyn is an easy-going, content and happy toddler.
So "vacationing with a toddler" isn't a negative in this situation.
Vacationing with a baby monkey...now that is a different story.

As luck would have it, she seemed to be feeling almost 100% our last day there.
It was frusturating that she would be almost better as we were about to go home, but I was thankful that the family got to enjoy her for one day and that she would be better for the long drive home the following day.

Wednesday was the low key day on the schedule.
Some people were staying home, some were going to the shops and some...
were going to the Aquarium.

And let me tell you....everyone else missed out on a good time at the Aquarium.
We ended up just going with Auntie Ali and it was so nice to have that special time with just her.
I highly recommend this aquarium {as does TripAdvisor}, we had read some reviews and saw it was ranked in the top 10 in the US so we decided we had to take advantage while we were in town.
I'm so glad we did!
This was the first day it actually felt like vacation.
It felt great to no longer be a zoo exhibit, but to just enjoy the aquarium.
{Okay, last monkey comparison, I promise...}
It was super toddler friendly and she had a blast.
We were thankful for the wonderful and fun Auntie Ali....
and this is one of the many big ol' fat reasons....
so we didn't have have to see mommy's big ol' fat, high butt-cracked booty crawling through the little tunnel.
Can I get an Amen?
You better believe I was praising the Lord for my slim 16 year old sister.
It wasn't busy.
She could walk everywhere and see everything.
The penguins swam right up the the window.
I loved her expression- she was pretty much in disbelief that that really just happened.

We finished off our date with a few goodies from the gift shop and her first taste of dippin' dots.
She was a fan.
She made it through the day without her paci or in my arms...
I was beyond thankful to have my sweet girl back!!

We returned to the cabin, she took a nap and we were off to the Dixie Stampede.
Another local attraction that I highly recommend- everyone loved it!
Unfortunately, I had to wake her up from her nap so we could get there in time.
::Cue the negatives of life with a toddler::
Waking from a nap is bound to be a disaster- through sickness and through health- it's just a sad scary fact.

::Cue bi-polar toddler/you are so incredibly hard to figure out::
She was happy with the seeing the horses.
Meltdown city during the ticket line.
Enjoyed a little snack.
Followed by a squirmy wormy whine fest.
Danced through some pre-show entertainment.
Followed by throwing things and ripping menus while entering the main venue.
Laughed and shouted "hi" to the horses from our front row seats.
Cried and grabbed on for dear life when the lights went out and the rings of fire appeared.
The show in the front row went downhill from there.
I thought the night would be a bust and I was supper bummed.

She was losing it and I was getting frustrated.
I enjoy shows like this and I was most definitely not enjoying this one.
I left right as a mouth-watering delicious chicken was put on my plate.
I went to the car and got her carrier thinking she might fall asleep.
And what to my wondering eyes should appear when we get to the parking lot??

A happy toddler.
Talking to the horses.
Not a care in the world.

You've got to be kidding me.

Once I figured that she was a good enough actor to be in the show, I quickly made my way back into the auditorium, grabbed my bag, grabbed my dinner {oh you better believe I did} and made our way to the top row where we enjoyed the rest of the show.

She was free to roam.
Or she could sit on the table and watch.
We were both SO much happier in the top row.
Phew.
And by the way, one of the best darn chickens I ever had.
Totally worth the sweat and near tears to retrieve it.
I'm not even kidding.

That night we finally had a good night's sleep.
We woke early early to drive back home.
And of course, I wouldn't expect anything other than for her to be better the day we left.
She still wasn't 100%, since it had turned into a little cold, but she was definitely much more her normal happy self.
Except when she realized I didn't have the colored stars to go with her book.
::Cue overtired irrational toddler::

We drove through the beautiful country and took some breaks along the way.

We even made it home in one {longggg} day, but we were so glad we did.

We were happy to be home and resume life as normal.
Breakfast with our babies.
There's no better way.

Giraffe Birthday Bash!

I decided to condense this post and stick to the surfacey details and mostly just pictures of Adalyn's first birthday.
It was getting too long when I added in my complaints the behind the scene details.

So I'll have this jumbled one, a DIY one and a whiney lessons learned one.

I went back and forth on a theme for 9 months a while and finally decided to go with giraffe.
{this is the only picture I have of the invite (made with Picmonkey) right now. My Grammie framed it- it wasn't mailed out with a wood border ;)}

Her nursery kind of took on that theme when I got the Melissa and Doug giraffe and the obsession continued from there.

Two other contenders for a theme:
1. Mickey/Minnie Mouse
2. Farm.

I decided I'd save those for when she can fully appreciate all the details.

I knew she would appreciate a giraffe theme and it seemed easy enough to put together.
I found a few things on Pinterest, but didn't see the exact style that I wanted.

I went out to a few stores and just bought what I thought would look good.

My main colors: Pink, dark brown giraffe print and cream burlap.

Main Table: Cinnamon Kettle Popcorn, Snack Mix, Cupcakes, Peppermint Pretzels, Strawberry Waffers, Pink MMs and Rice Crispy Cake
{Popcorn Boxes from PartyMonkey}
{Giraffe Scrapbook Paper and Ribbon from Hobby Lobby}

Main Food Table: Chick-Fil-A Nuggets {easy, everyone loves them and yummy leftovers! I may or may not have shed a tear when I ate the last one.}, Chips and dip, Bean Dip, Veggies and dip, Caramel Apple Dip, Cookie Dough Bites and a triple layer cake.

Kids Table: I wanted to have a little table for Adalyn and her friends- yogurt melts, pirates booty, animal crackers and some giraffe coloring pages.
I was in love with the ribbon topiaries!

Drink Table: Pink lemonade with mason jars and paper straws{can't go wrong there!}. I also served bottled water.
I don't usually keep the drinks so simple, but this was prettier :)

Other Misc. Details:
{Monthly and favorite pictures}
{$1 Giraffe favors from AC Moore}
{Kids Table}
{Love the canvases I have of her}

Cake Time: So thankful I took cake pictures a few days before her party because she was so unimpressed the actual day!

I love the middle pictures of her elbows just resting on the tray.

It's only her first birthday...whatev.

She is one loved little girl!

It was a great day and we are so blessed by our family and friends!

 {Adorable outfit from ebay}
Can't believe she is one.

Technically since I'm two months late to posting this she's almost 14 months and that's even crazier.

And she already looks older.
Gah, slow down little lady!!!

More details to come...
