Help! Need some tips!

Well, we made it!

Mr. B graduated.

He has begun {and loves} his new job.

We are all moved into our new apartment, but still unpacking because we have to much junk wonderful items that need to find a place.

We just got internet set up yesterday.

I haven't blogged or read blogs in like a week.

How I made it through, I don't even know.

I still have too much to do to even be thinking about doing such things.

But, y'all {I have never said/used that phrase before and I know it's weird because I am not from the south, but it's a lot easier than spelling "you all". Okay, maybe not a lot easier, but it is easier. So I thought I would give it a try and see how it felt. Personally, it felt good- I liked it. Now, I know at this point it would have been easier just to write "you all", but thought some explanation would be needed for future reference.} are so good at giving advice so please send some more my way.

We have one problem.
Smoker smell is hovering everywhere.

The landlord painted the walls.

They steam cleaned the carpets.

We washed the carpets.

There is new flooring in the kitchen.

The living room is wood.

The bedrooms are carpet.

I have tried febreeze, yankee candle, good air, odor genie...

It's still lingering.

Not as strong, but it's there.

Any tips??

We might rent a huge air purifier thing, it's $40 for the day, will that work??

Please, help!

The place is great and slowly coming together and looking pretty,
but this smoke smell is not enjoyable.

Thank you!!

I say y'all all the time!

I'm sorry you have a smoke smell in your house...yuck! I'm not much help in that department but I hope you can get rid of the smell!

Baking soda maybe? I might sprinkle it on the carpets and let it set for awhile and then vacuum it up. Google it first!

Good luck! And congrats on the many changes!

Congratulations to Mr. B graduating! And yay for a new place. I don't know much about getting rid of smoke. Wish I could be more of a help. I'm sure someone will be able to help you though!

J-
White vinegar in an old spray bottle. Mix it with tea tree oil... about 6 drops. Spray everything until slightly damp. Let dry. It will smell for a little while ( like vinegar) but should eventually work!

Or... pest control companies have these odor absorbing bags that you hang in a room and they are amazing!

Hope it works out! Looking forward to seeing your awesome decorating skills at work!

Love you guys!

I am from Memphis and didnt notice anything unusual about the ya'll! We use it every day!

About your smoke smell, try painting the ceiling with Kilz. It should help, regular paint wont do a thing. And also try baking soda on the carpet. Good luck!

If they smoked in the house and didn't Kilz the walls before painting them, the smell and yellow color will just come back through. The previous owner of our house smoked and we've gutted the house during our remodel, but you can still smell the smoke in the door jam of the front door or the window sills when you open the windows that haven't been painted - that's how strong it is. And we've been here almost a year and a half!

I used to buy Zero Oder (http://www.zeroodor.com) for that weird "pet" smell and that worked wonders. I would imagine you could use it for the smoke smell as well.

I too have heard that Baking Soda works wonders! Sprinkle on the carpet and let it sit a while before vacuuming it up.
