17 Weeks

Finding the time/energy to do these weekly updates makes time fly by!  But that's a good thing! So here is my 17 week update even though I'm almost 18 weeks!

Total Weight Gained: Down 1 pound. So gained a pound since my 16 week appointment, but still under my starting weight.

Sleep: Is good! The plain ol' original body pillow has become my best friend and will be making it's way to the hotel we are staying at this weekend for a wedding!

Maternity Clothes: Still LOVE. Wear mostly non-maternity shirts and dresses, but love my shorts and capris. I bought some clothes a couple weeks ago that thankfully still have the tags on because they fit me so differently and uglierly {new word} now and those baby are getting returned today.  Which btw, I love returning things because it's like "free money" since it's already spent you know, so I am excited to exchange everything for a few new cuter shirts to accommodate my growing belly.

Best Moment of the Week: Find out the Gender!!!!! We are having a baby GIRL. I really really really wanted a girl first, of course I would have been thrilled with a happy baby boy too but I just love all the bows and dresses and all things girly. We already had a girl name and could.not agree on a boy name so we were ecstatic to see the ultrasound!

Food Cravings: Lots and lots of aversions, but my appetite is slowly coming back. This week I am loving fresh squeezed lemonade made my Mr. B- it's the most sour, shocking drink ever but totally hits the spot! Just like granny smith apple- this is so not like me! I never drink lemonade or like sour things!

Aversions: Pretty much everything, but two major major aversions:
 1. Steak  2. Wishbone Italian Dressing.     GAG!

Symptoms: Still having morning sickness but thankfully it's now only about 2 days a week instead of 2+ times every day like it was, still feel car sick {nervous for out 8 hour drive tomorrow!},  occasional heartburn, hairy belly lol, and my newest symptoms is starving every two hours! This could be dangerous- but I am trying to keep the snacking healthy.

Movement: I don't think so.  Maybe some flutters, but no real movement or anything that I know for sure. I am anxiously awaiting though!

Gender: GIRL!!!

What I miss: Not feeling sick in the car, being able to slowly wake up/relax in bed until I am ready to get up, eat deli from restaurants like Panera. But who cares- it's all SO worth it!

What I'm looking forward to: Feeling some kicks and movement!

Weekly Wisdom: Find some good deals on craigslist- don't waste all your money at the stores {just some because that is fun, too :) } I just got a huge trash bag of brand name winter girl clothes for $50. I am so pumped! It was an awesome deal!

Milestones: Found out the gender & we started the registry!

I know I used this picture a couple days ago, but it's my "official" weekly shot. And please note we now have 3 ducks in the background, hoping for 4 next week ;)

{Never mind, it's not letting me upload any pictures...}

Wordless Wednesday: Official Poll

This crazy girl....
made this official poll for our family...

I think she's excited.

She also already made my baby shower card about two days after we told them we are having baby.
So I think excited might be an understatement :)

Keeping Busy

I've been keeping busy lately...

A.  Because we are {hopefully!} finding out GIRL or BOY in 4 days!! All the distraction is allowing time to pass by just a little bit faster.

B. The Second Trimester has brought a new sense of energy {and an appetite!} - Praise the Lord!!

C. I'm trying to finish up some projects around our apartment because I know once I know the sex it will be all baby all the time. And I can.not.wait!!

So I guess you can say this is "Nesting: Phase 1".

I've been in a crafty/decorating/organizing everything phase and so far, I'm loving it.

So I've been busy with things like.....

adding a pop of color into my teal and brown living room.
It is just what I was looking for.

new and brighter colors for our tiny little bathroom.

Rearranging our bedroom and bringing back our nightstands.
It's the little things.

Redoing the pantry.
And loving that.

Revamping some lamps- painting and making lampshades.

And getting things ready for the "reveal party" on Saturday!

I eventually plan to go into more detail about my thrifty finds and recent redecorating, but for now- this will have to do!

16 Week Appt

This morning I had my 16 week appointment! Time really is flying- wohoo!!

I haven't done any updates for the other weeks, but figured I better start today or I never will!

I still have an update planned for how the first trimester went...although I prefer not to think about it- it wasn't very kind to me!

Second trimester has been great so far, so so so much better than the first! Thank you Jesus!

Ok so here we go....

Total Weight Gained: Lost 2 pounds. I was really sick, but now that I am feeling better most days I am sure the weight will be packing on soon!

Sleep: Getting better now that I started sleeping with a body pillow. It's hard not to sleep on my belly anymore. My daily morning is debate is whether or not I want to get up to pee and most likely end up getting sick or if I try and hold it for when I am really ready to get up.

Maternity Clothes: Bought a pair of maternity capris and shorts...um IN LOVE! I really think every pair of pants should be like this! They are so comfy! Also wearing lots of dresses.

Best Moment of the Week: Hearing the heartbeat for the first time today. We have seen it twice, but it was a new experience to hear it. {even though it felt like it was only for .3 seconds, it was amazing!}

Food Cravings: Lots and lots of aversions, but my appetite is slowly coming back. My first official craving: granny smith apples!  I can't get enough of them! This is so not me, I never eat apples- they make my mouth and throat so itchy. They are so hitting the spot though so it's worth it!

Aversions: Pretty much everything, but two major major aversions:
 1. Steak  2. Wishbone Italian Dressing.     GAG!

Symptoms: Morning sickness, Car sick,  heartburn, extra hairy lol

Movement: I don't think so. One day I thought I did, but I am not 100% sure- should be soon though!
Gender: Hopefully find out NEXT WEEK!!!!

What I miss: Not feeling sick in the car, being able to slowly wake up/relax in bed until I am ready to get up, eat deli from restaurants like Panera. But who cares- it's all SO worth it!

What I'm looking forward to: Finding out if we are having a baby girl or baby boy! Seriously, can not wait! Hoping I will be able to use the girl clothes I already bought ;)

Weekly Wisdom: It gets better! I honestly didn't think it would, but I am finally feeling good most days. Even if I get sick in the morning, the all day nausea has disappeared. It feels awesome!

Milestones: 16 weeks and healthy heart beat! Also, I feel like I have a legit bump now and made it past the fat stage. For the most part anyways!

{ Mr. B was so proud of himself for getting the two ducks in the picture.
Such a talented husband, right? ;) }

Learn Something New Everyday

Roxie taught us two new things the past couple days....
I was going to put both in one post, but it ended up being long so I just split it up.
The suspense- once again, wow!

Number One:
Roxie don't swim
I know that's not the right verb, I did it on purpose. Really.
Funny, right? Har-Har.

Memorial Day weekend was beautiful, the weather was so so perfect!
We were anxious to see what Roxie was going to think of the boat and the water this year since she is a lot bigger and more active than when she was a tiny pup.
{These are all iphone pics, sorry some are a little dark}

Last year, she was so little and buried herself in towels to hide from the wind.

I thought for sure she would love the boat this year since she loves having her head out the window in the car.

And she did.

Last year, she barely went in the water and instead did a lot of sleeping and cuddling.

Now she loves water!
She loves the hose, her little pool, puddles etc.
So I was anxious to see how she would like the lake. I knew she would like it if she could just wade in the shallow end and go in at her own pace, but that's not an option here.
I wasn't sure how she was going to do with being in the water right in the middle of the lake.

She was barking at the water and acting like she really wanted to go in. Mr B and his dad stopped the boat to jump in for a quick dip and figured Roxie would join too. She went down to the lower "deck" by the water, and Senior Smelly {Mr. B's dad} gave Roxie a little motivation and patted her bum right into the lake.

And she started to sink.

Mr. B, who was taking it slow getting into the water because it was so cold, shouts "Oh Geez!!!"
And he jumped in so fast to help her.

I see Roxie's sweet little head come to the top of the water, trying to paddle her way to the boat with Mr. B holding her body and Smelly Senior pulling her up on the seat.

My poor little baby.
She was terrified.

The moment was hilarious and horrifying all the same time.
Totally wasn't expected.

So ummm...
lesson learned: Roxie isn't a swimmer.

I went to the store the other day to get her a life jacket.
{Seriously, I cross a new crazy-dog-person line everyday}
I never thought I would be buying my dog a life jacket, but clearly- she needs one!

No more sinking my sweet girl.
I looked online to see if there was a better one to get for boxers and I read a bunch of others saying their boxer sinks too if they get in above their head.
Apparently it's because of their big heavy chest that weighs them down.
Makes sense.

So off we went to buy her a life jacket.
She looks pretty darn cute in it and thankfully didn't mind wearing it all around the store.

Whether or not she will ever go near the end of the boat or into the water again...who knows!
But at least we are prepared this time!

Happy Weekend!
