Baby Monitor

I've been so busy the past week!

The shower  was on Saturday and was wonderful!

We completed our first birthing class yesterday!

And baby is due NEXT month!!

My Grammie took a majority of the pictures from my shower and she will be giving me the CD of the photos today and I will be posting them sometime this week!

In the meantime, I need some advice on a baby monitor....

we registered for the Angelcare Video monitor

which retails for almost $300.

So out of the many wonderful things we received this weekend- this item was not one of them.

Now we are faced with the question do we really want to spend this much money on a monitor??

I know for sure I want a video one, but is the Angelcare mat worth the extra money?

I am a worry wart and know that I will be paranoid about SIDS so I like the idea of the mat, but does it even work??

At the moment, we are also planning on her being in her nursery from day one {Our apartment is small, as is our bedroom- and her room is right across from us so it just made more sense to have her there}.

And yes, it makes me sad to already think about her sleeping in there.

So anyways, do you have the Angelcare? Is it worth it?

What monitor do you have?

What monitor did you hate?

Love?

Should we just do the Summer Infant Best View for $200??

Any advice is greatly appreciated! {When asked....which I did...so I appreciate it :) }

We have the angel care monitor without the video. It has been worth every penny to us. We just had our third baby last week, and we have used the monitor with each child. Our first baby was on a breathing monitor for four weeks because she had RSV when she was nine weeks old. After they took the breathing monitor away, the angel care monitor gave me a huge sense of peace. Our daycare center also uses them on every baby.

We do not have that monitor but I think the peace of mind alone would be worth it. I was up a million times a night checking on her, even when she started sleeping through the night.

I think starting her in her room is a great idea :) I did the same and I never had to worry about transitioning her and she is an amazing sleeper! Yes, it is very hard but it was for the best for us. Plus, you and your hubby will Ike the alone time, even if it's while you are sleeping. Good luck! I can't wait to see her!

Our baby is due in February and I'm getting the "Snuza" baby movement monitor... it clips onto baby's diaper and vibrates/alarms if it doesn't sense any movement. It retails for about $100. I've heard from many mommies that it really put their hearts at rest! I like that it's portable, so wherever the baby is sleeping it goes with him/her. I'm also getting a video monitor... not sure which one yet.

We used Angel Care minus the video for both kids and I swear by it. Not only does it give you peace of mind, it is an awesome sound monitor. I say go for it...your peace of mind is definitely worth an extra $100!

i have the angel care monitor and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Now... I don't have the video one... and I bought mine off amazone for like 80 bucks I think. If you don't want to spend 300... then I would recommend just thinking about how important the video aspect is.

and hey, if both are equally important, then spend the money.. because I guarantee you will when the baby comes.. (like i did when elliana was 3 months old)

I am also due next month, and was set from day one that I wanted the Angel Care system without the video. I think that if I had the video I would be constantly watching it. And some friends of ours have the system without the video and love it, that's why I wanted it. So we purchased it (actually my mom did) and I cant wait to set it up and see how it works. The reviews are awesome, and I don't think you or I will regret having that piece of mind. Besides im sure with the video you will still be up a million times a night to check on her, I know I will.

The angel care without the video is what we have, and it is worth every penny! I can not tell you the comfort that it gives me. Yes, it works. If the baby scoots to far from the mat the alarm goes off so quickly. In my opinion it is the number 1 needed baby item. I could do without everything else. I take it with me everywhere, and I am so thankful for its technology. No amount of money can ever keep you from being to careful.

They sell just the pad for around 99 dollars.

My sister has the Angelcare without the monitor and she loves it. We can me sitting out on the patio while the baby is asleep and if she rolls off the bad or even if the temp is getting too hot or too cold in the room the alarm will go off.

From experience with my niece, I highly suggest it and will get one for my future babes when the time comes.

We also have the snuza go and I love it! My little guy is almost 6 months {second baby} and we have used it from day one. I researched them all and this got GREAT reviews and we love it.

First I just have to say that I adore reading your blog and have loved following you through your pregnancy! You are so cute:)

I have to say that I couldn't imagine having a baby monitor without a video of some sort! The peace of mind alone has been well worth the money. We have the second monitor that you mention in your post and I have to be very honest with you the battery life on this monitor is not the best. In fact we keep the monitor hooked to the wall at all times because when we take it off it dies. I haven't looked into replacing the battery but I am sure I will when we have our second child (Kendall is 18 months so I am OK not having the monitor attached to my hip now!) It probably started doing this when she was about 10-12 months old. So, it made it through most of the year before we had any problems out of it.

We could just have a faulty battery or maybe you are suppose to change out the batteries so often I am not sure haha!

But, we have absolutely loved the monitor other than this one small problem. I definitely recommend a video monitor especially if you are a worrier. We have a video monitor AND we still go check on our daughter at night! Ha:)

Best of luck and I can't wait to see pictures of your sweet baby!!

Both my sister and I have the AngelCare Monitor without video. We love ours and wouldn't have it any other way! I never missed having a video anyway...if I wanted to check on little miss visually, I just went in there. :)

We have the angelcare monitor without the video. I think it was $65 on walmart.com Or maybe $80. either way-good deal! We love it. the first few nights we had some false alarms until we got the sensitivity adjusted but now I know it's just right and if she would stop breathing it would go off. It's amazing. we don't have her in our room either and I can actually sleep at night knowing that if something would happen it would let me know! and i'm kind of a paranoid mama. tony laughs at me because when she's in her car seat or swing i'll check to see if she's still breathing...she just looks so squished! :)
You should definitely get one but if you want to spend less, just get one without the monitor. You'll probably get more sleep that way anyway ;)

I use the Summer Infant Best view monitor and LOVE it! I heard several negative comments about the angel care going off a lot and scaring you needlessly.
