The Double C Word

Mr. B and I are looking into getting out very first....
credit card.

You're probably all cringing and shouting noooooo.
I know. I know.
But's it's not for this...

I promise.

It's not to put us in debt.
It's not to buy things we can't afford.

It's to build our credit.
It's something to have for true emergencies.
It's also something to have to hold us over.

For example, we need to fill the car with gas today.
Mr. B doesn't get paid until Tuesday.
We have the money, but the timing just isn't right.
We are working on that though.
The joys of marriage and the grown-up life.
We will be having a little meeting on Tuesday night to try and get everything back on track,
but in the meantime we both agree that this is something to consider.

So, I come to those of you are addicted to our smell{y life} for some advice.

We are looking into a low maximum- about $1,000.
We are looking for a grace period.
No annual fees or any fees in general.
Fairly low interest rate.

What credit card do you have?
Do you like it?
Any suggestions?
Tips?

Happy Friday! Hope the weather is a cool and beautiful as it is here!

New Season. New Size.

New jeans.

New motivation.

New need for the 30 Day Shred.

With the cooler weather approaching {and remaining the rest of the week!},
it's time to pull out the fall/winter wardrobe.
Pull out and put on squeeze in.
Last night I was getting ready for Bible Study, I put on my jeans and they felt a little on the snug side as they slid up my thigh.
I finally get them around my hips and realize there is no way that that button is making it through that hole.
I suck in. It moves 1/100 cm.
Awesome.
I jump up and down. Surely, it will fit if it's higher on my waist.
It moves 1/200 cm.
Perfect.
I rip them off because they are super uncomfortable around my legs, let alone buttoned and around my belly.

No problem, I'll try another pair.
Step into one leg. Right away- I know where this is going....
down the same path as the previous pair.
Not worth going through all that effort again to try and get it to button.
{When putting jeans on becomes a work out and you are too lazy to try and squeeze into another pair, it could be a possible sign/example of your lifestyle and why none of them fit?? Just sayin.}
Next.
Slip into the leg, we are along the same path as the previous pairs but this pair came with a glimpse of hope. Although it did require the double action move, called the "suck-in-and-jump-up-quickly-fit-the-button-through-the-hole-if-you-fail-squat-suck-in-jump-up-and-try-again-method".
It worked.
I ruined my freshly painted nail. But it was buttoned.

New problem- it wouldn't zip.
I couldn't get the zippers close enough to pull it up.
Self-esteem is blowing through the roof by now.
New solution: look in the closet for a big enough shirt that
a. will cover the open zipper
b. cover the the skin that is being pushed out of the pants and overflowing on the sides.

Oh and forget about being able to breathe while sitting.

This isn't me, but it's a pretty darn accurate picture of what I looked like.
Mr. B loves some extra love on these handles, but I think even he might admit there's a little too much love.
Especially with these particular jeans on.

The tops of these muffins are a little bit larger than necessary.
I don't love muffins, but I do enjoy muffin tops.
Preferably, Market Basket blueberry with the sugar coated tops.
But, not a huge fan of the muffin tops on my pants.
Apparently those muffin tops that I like to enjoy for breakfast have found a new home.

I just bought all these jeans 10 months ago.
This is not cool.
I have no excuse.
It's time to get serious.
But it's hard.
Real hard.
I love food too much.
I love exercising too little.

Any tips?? Have you tried on your fall wardrobe yet? It's a daunting task! Hope you have better luck than me!

In 30 days, they better button...with ease!

Top Two Tuesday but it's Wednesday

For self-esteem purposes I will believe that there was a lack of responses to my previous post because everyone was busy for Labor Day weekend. Because that's the truth, right?? Either that or I'm ashamed and embarrassed that apparently I am the only one with an occasional long dark strand in my armpit or the fact that I admitted that I like when my thighs stretch out my shorts and make them fit perfectly. So we will just go with everyone's busy schedule, okay? Great. Moving on..

I am in the process of updating my iPhoto so I can finally upload pictures to my computer, and then I can share about our wonderful trip to Texas too.
Until then, I will join in on T2T, or in my case T5W.
The topic for today yesterday was favorite things about fall.
Fall is my favorite season, so my list is way more than two!
The list could go on and on, but I will give you my top 5, in no particular order:

{one}. I love fall Sundays. Church, football, coupons, pizza, wings or chinese, naps and relaxing with my man and my family. I call myself a biltriots fan. I like to represent where I am from, {New England} but Mr. B is a hard core Bills fan so I like to support that too :)

{two} Apple Crisp. Mmmm

{three} Fall weather. We are known for the beautiful foliage and nothing beats it.
Last year we were in Florida, so this year I am looking forward to the cool crisp air and the gorgeous colored leaves.

{four} Fall Scents. Yankee Candle Farmer's Market is my fav.or.ite.
I am really into the tarts and I like to switch out the scents.
I also like Autumn Fruit and Mandarin Cranberry {but that's not fally}
{five} Fall clothes. Jeans, sweaters, scarves and boots. My birthday is also in the fall so I usually get to go on a little shopping spree and pick out a cute new wardrobe, which of course plays a significant part in fall being my favorite. Can you blame me?

What are your favorite things about the fall? Do you have any favorite scents? Have you ever experienced a New England fall?

Thursday's Thoughts

These are my thoughts while getting ready this morning that I just felt the need to share. Because clearly they are post-worthy.

I hate when you are shaving your armpits and you realize that one day, probably when you were really tired and not paying attention, you shaved a little bit farther than usual. Therefore, you have a few strands either higher or lower than the normal perimeter due to the fact that they are not trimmed in your every day stroke. When taking care of these, now long dark strands, it is inevitable that the shaved area doubles in size each time therefore creating more strands that will be missed for the next few weeks. All because of one mistake. Wonderful.

Sometimes I wonder what the back of my thighs look like, seeing as though I am not the most flexible person and turning sideways and backwards or down and under is too much work for this lady to shave. I have shaved it occasionally though so who knows, it could look like those little strands in my armpit. Except maybe with a lot of strands. Sexy.

Plucking eyebrows= bound to get carried away. This morning I decided to try and give my eye brows a "shape". Which of course turned into thin, uneven, one side shorter than the other, one side higher than the other, one side thicker than the other... you know, basically the perfect "shape" I was going for. Which is also the result of one mistake, one bad pluck that messes up the whole thing.

I love when you wear shorts 4 days in a row. By the 4th day they finally fit you perfectly and make you feel like you lost some weight. When in reality it's actually your fat that has been stretching it out. But that's okay, no need to be a pessimist. We can pretend that my thighs have actually shrunk after just one day of the Shred, right? Right. Thanks.

I wrote the mailman a note from Roxie today. Another milestone reached in becoming one of those dog people. He gives her a bone every day, even if we aren't home he will leave her one in the mailbox and I think it is so sweet. So I gave him a little thank you note and was really torn on who it should be from. So, I guess it's legit: I have crossed over to the other side if I am writing a note from my dog.

I dread seeing people you haven't seen in a while because to them it is obvious if you have are looking, lets say...a little more plump and healthy, if you will. The people in your every day life claim you look the same, but it's these people that can really tell. Unfortunately {or fortunately, really} they don't say anything about it to your face. But you always wonder...

Some people might hope that one day of the shred is enough to make the difference for those people not to realize you may or may not have gained weight since the last time you saw them.

Mr. B and I are going to Texas for the long weekend to visit his family. Just in case you were wondering what brings about these random thoughts for the day. Well, it explains some of them anyway.

Hope everyone enjoys their long weekend!
We are looking forward to a mini- vaca in TX {minus the heat!!}
Looking like babies {I know we still look young now, but I'd say we have at least moved to the toddler stage}, celebrating our 3 year dating anniversary on our last visit to TX in December 2008

Wordless Wednesday: Watermelon

My aunt was looking for someone to make a watermelon carriage for my cousin's baby shower.
Because I had never seen such a thing, or had any idea how to make one, I thought I would be the best candidate to take on such an important task for such a special day.
So obviously I volunteered myself.
Who wouldn't?
Oh, everyone else because who would do that and want that pressure?

Although I had never made {or seen} one before, I thought it sounded like fun.
Assuming I had the most time on my hands, I figured I could give it a try.
I found some tips online.
I proceded in confidence
And gave it a whirl.
And it was success on my first try.
I loved making this little masterpiece and was really pleased with how it came out.
Baby Emma's room is butterfly themed so I added a few to tie it all in.

Is that cute, or what??

Misc. Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
one. I just came back from a walk with Roxie. I walked out with a smile and a positive-it's-a-beautiful-day-look-at-me-walking-my-adorable-puppy attitude {this was my second walk for the day, I was feeling good} and I walked in with poop on my thumb, poop on my leg, poop on my shirt and throw up in my my throat. Roxie decided to take the biggest dump of her life on our walk. on the sidewalk. three mounds. in three different spots. I only had one tiny poop bag. Hence the poop on my thumb, my shirt and my leg. Oh yeah and the throw up in my throat from both the smell and the fact that it was all over me. At least they were logs...

two. Mistake of Summer 2010- blow drying hair with the AC on in the living room= blown fuse. The past few times I have done this I just left the house and went over to my parents for the day until Mr. B got home to fix it. {Lazy?? Me? No way!} Today, I didn't have that option. So I was going to face my fears, go into the basement {which I have never been in btw} and fix the fuse. Well, my courage only got me so far because I couldn't find the key to the basement anywhere. Turns out Mr. B put it on the keychain with the all our other keys.....you know, in case we need the key to our basement while we are out for dinner, or out of town, or at work- like today. These keys are currently residing in Boston, in his pocket in his office. Let me inform you...this fuse not only controls the AC, but it also controls the TV. This was a big deal. Thankfully my the landlord's wife was home so after knocking on her door about 15 times she finally opened the basement for me. I didn't realize she was going to stay with me the whole time so her presence alone pressured me and left me with no choice, but to find my inner man. I took a deep breath, walked down and felt at least 109 spiderwebs attack me and quickly flipped the switch. It worked. It wasn't that bad. Actually...it kind of was.
Reason number 108974 why I need my husband. I don't like finding/bringing out my inner man- it's hard to find and it's not very big.

three. Today is just one of those Mondays. I have experienced enough to understand that, hopefully I won't be reminded anymore through out the day.

four. We survived the crazy weekend. I am going to start making a video of the weekend, it will probably be ready in approximately...5 months. Maybe a year, who knows.

five. Sometimes when Roxie is sleeping, she is dreaming and twitching/running/jumping and I swear she is having a seizure. Not sure I would be able to tell the difference. She is doing that right now, so I thought why not add it to the list of silly information I am pulling out of my butt to make a post.

six. This weekend totally wiped me out, we got very little sleep and now I feel like my eyes are permanent puffy slits with big bags under them. So attractive, I know.

seven. I started the 30 Day Shred for the sixth time today! Anyone else re-starting/still doing it?? It really is so good, and I always see results when I do it and it's only 20 minutes- I just can't stick with it! Now I am off to have pizza for lunch because that's obviously the best way to see results. Well, at least they cancel each other out....at least a few bites anyways :)

2 in 1

So on Monday when I said I will post my anniversary weekend "tomorrow", tomorrow actually meant Friday. Apparently in my world Friday comes right after Monday. Except that isn't the world I live in, although that would be a nice world, wouldn't it?

So today's post is 2 in 1 because there's something else important I needed to share today!

1.
So anyways, over a month ago...
Mr. B sent me an email telling me to pack a bag for two nights and he would be sending me other hints through out the day.
I was actually super surprised which is really unusual because I like to be ::ahem:: in control of most situations.
We had decided that funds were tight this year and we weren't going to do anything too expensive.
Aka- a card and take-out will be just fine. Seriously.
But just like my tomorrow meant Friday, having no money meant we have money.
I'd like to point out that our fridge has pretty much looks like this ever since this anniversary weekend
but that is...irrelevant.

So our stuff is packed, we drop Roxie off at my parents' and we drive about an hour away to a beautiful little town called Portsmouth.
We got take-out at the Ninety-Nines and made our way to our final destination
{yes, I know it is primarily an old people restaurant, but I love their cheese and crackers!}.

We stayed at the Sheraton Harborside hotel for two lovely nights.
In the morning, Mr. B made me an appointment at a hair salon to get some blondies back!
I was so excited!
I told the stylist to make me as blonde as possible with x amount of money...
The whole time the stylist was calling me "blondie" making me think it was super blonde.
Um...how about "light brownie".
It's still lighter than it was and I like it a lot, but it drives me nuts when they don't make it as light as you want and when they give you the impression it's super light... only to look in the mirror and be disappointed, put a fake smile on and say that you love it.
{Which I am really bad at by the way}
But she did a really good job of making it look natural, which I love.
And I forgot to bring a straightener so it was perfect to have my hair styled for the night!
We had breakfast and walked around the shops.
I wasn't in the blogging mindset at the time, so most of these pictures are from google images,
but we did take few of our own.
This was our first night away from Roxie, I was tempted to buy these awesome socks I found.
Mr. B refused to pay for such things.
They also had homemade dog treats that looked like whoopie pies and they were called "woofie pies"- so creative, right? And if I would've had my blogging brain on I so would've taken a picture. Sorry.
The magnet I really did want to buy because, you know, I am now one of those people. It seemed fitting.
We had lunch by the water, walked around a little more, went over to the outlets, and then headed back to get ready for the night.
Here we are waiting for.....

Brian Regan!!!
My parents' bought us tickets for our anniversary.
This part of the weekend had been planned for a few months and
we were so looking forward to it.
Brian is one of our favorite comedians. He is so hilarious and totally clean, which is great.
I tried to post a video, but youtube was being weird. If you want some good laughs go check out some of his clips. It's hard to pick a favorite, but the pop tart one, ironing board, eye dr, and UPS ones are really funny. And well, pretty much all of the other ones too!
We had such a great time, I have never laughed so long and hard - we were seriously laughing for at least 30 minutes straight {which is painful btw}. We would catch a quick break and then he would start another hilarious joke. He has funny facial expressions too, which totally make his act that much more funny. Straight up smiling for 2 hours = so cheeks!
Anyways, he's funny and we loved it- can you tell? I am not sure I said it enough...

We finished the night with Blink's Fried Doe which is the best.
This is the only picture I could find on google, but I prefer mine with cinnamon and powdered sugar. Just in case you were wondering.

Sunday morning we slept in {aren't hotel shades the best ever??}, went out for lunch, went to the outlets one more time and came back to our sweet little puppy and a relaxing evening. Even though we really didn't have the money for this, we made some great memories and it was the perfect way to celebrate our first year of marriage. Even if we won't have groceries for the next few months....

2.

Mr. B, Mama Grace & I are headed on a crazy adventure tonight.

Mama Grace is big into current events and politics and I'm...not.
Sometimes I feel bad because I literally have nothing to contribute to any conversation relating to such things.
Unless of course, it was covered on The View. That's where I get my current events. A little embarrassing, I know.
Mama Grace has been talking for months about a big rally that is going on in DC that she really wants to be a part of.
Unfortunately, no one in Mama Grace's life is as passionate about such things as she is.
So no one else wanted to go.
Last weekend, she decided she was going to go by herself.
She would hop on a bus that is supporting this rally, it leaves at 10 at night gets in at 7 in the morning and then leaves that night at 8 and gets in at 4 the next morning.

Hello-that-sounds-like-HELL-who-in-their-right-mind-would-PAY-to-do-such-a-crazy-thing!?!
Oh, that would be Mama Grace.....
Mr. B...
and me- that's who!
Yup, please pass me the Daughter of the Year award.
I am going.
My exact words when she told me she was doing this was "Wow, that sounds like helllllllll." And although I still stay true to those words, I couldn't let her embark on this journey by herself.
So I made a deal, if they pay for my ticket, we will pay for Mr. B's and go.
Done deal.
We are going.
And they paid for both our tickets.
No complaints.
Except for the fact that we are dreading the whole try-your-best-to-sleep-on-a-bus-for-8-hours-for-two-nights-and-waste-away-your-relaxing-weekend-while-changing-your-underwear-in-a-tiny-bus-bathroom-with-thousands-of-tea-party-political- junky-weirdos thing, but other than that it should be fun interesting.
It is for a good cause, it is what America needs, it is standing up for what we believe in and honoring our country and those who give up their life for our freedom so... I think we can handle it.
The blogging brain is back in action and I am planning on documenting this extravaganza.
Please pray for safety {no bombing- my biggest fear at the moment!} and that the Lord would heal our land!

This is the longest post ever. If you made it this far, congrats and thank you!!
Enjoy your weekend!
