The Talk

No,  this isn't a post about the talk.

It's a post about the show The Talk.

Not sure if anyone watches it, but it's on in the afternoon and it's similar to The View, but better because it's a lot less political {although The View is where I get most of my current event info from and yes, that is a bit of information that I should probably keep to myself} and they also don't talk over each other like crazy ladies.

It probably became one of my new favorite shows.

Please note the past tense.

We have a huge problem.

They let Leah Remini {my girl from King of Queens}, one of my favorite hosts on the show,  go.
They asked her not to come back.
I couldn't believe it!
I still can't believe it.

And I don't know all the details, but Holly also left this season.
Two of the best people.

What the heck?!!?

They left all the boring ones.
Awesome.

I googled "Leah Remini The Talk" to see if I could find any other information on it {besides what she told me on twitter...okay so she didn't really tell me, but I like to consider her my friend}and as I was typing that the auto google search suggested "annoying" - that was number one for her search!

I get that she can be loud and obnoxious for some, but I personally liked her personality and thought she brought a lot to the show. She was just like her character on King of Queens.

The Talk has been new the past 2 days and it has been awful, awkward and boring.
I'm pretty bummed.

Now trust me, I have more than enough other shows to waste my brain cells on.
But still, this is not cool and I really wish they would have talked to me about this before making this decision.

Curious if anyone else watches?? Did you find Leah annoying??

27 Weeks

I had no energy to do the 27 week post and I didn't take a 28 week picture this weekend.
I have been so well documenting, I can't stop now! So I really need to get the ball rolling again.

I am just going to do a condensed version of an update {mostly because I don't even remember anything from last week}

Milestones for week 27:
:Made it to the THIRD trimester!!::
:: Completed the glucose test!! Still don't know if I passed, but hoping no news is good news! ::
:: Only got sick once at the very end of the week! ::
:: She's been very active, which I love! Even if it means being woken up extra early- good practice! ::
::Continue to get significantly larger every day. My sister thought I looked bigger from the ride to my parents to my house, ha!::
::Still no stretch marks on my belly....yet!::

Gender: GIRL!!!

Total Weight Gained: I am borrowing my parents' scale- the whole suspense of not knowing how much I was gaining was killing me! So +9 for week 27.

We made it through hurricane Irene. Thankfully, we weren't hit too badly and it was more like a super windy thunderstorm.

Mr. B and I went outside for a quick 2 minute belly shoot. I thought it was important to document such events.
It was hilarious.
I actually think I pulled a muscle in my back because the wind was taking the umbrella right out of my hands, I was holding on with everything in me!

Accent Vlog {Recycled}

So I'm a little confused with all the rage about this accent vlog- I guess history really does repeat itself {lame phrase for this type of situation, I know}, but I totally made one of these back in January when everyone was doing it and now new people are finding it and doing it, I guess.

Apparently I wasn't cool enough to start the trend.

Which sounds about right.

No problem for me, I decided that I will just recycle my accent vlog.  I have some new followers who maybe never saw it. It gave me a freebie blogging day- which is always exciting.
You know, since this is such hard work and all.

So here is my video from January-not pregnant, not summer and I can't believe how short my hair was.

Directions are as follows:
The instructions are to say these wordsAunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

And answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?

Do you think I have an accent?
Do you have an accent? Did you make a vlog? Leave the link in the comments if you did!

New Friend

So today is supposed to be a pregnancy update, but change of plans because.... I just don't feel like it.
I'm feeling reallly big today. I swear, this girl is doubling in size every night!

So instead I will introduce to our newest friend- Gia the Giraffe.

We have been anxiously awaiting her arrival.

We were so excited when the UPS guy delivered her yesterday.
Seriously, this is no joke. Hugs all around!

This morning when Roxie got out of bed, she went right into the nursery to visit our new friend.
She isn't quite sure what to think of her.

I'm thankful we have a couple more months for them to get acquainted though, because I have a feeling that little miss Adalyn won't appreciate the loud and disruptive "conversation" that goes on.

And neither will mommy.

A Miracle

I didn't get sick this morning or at the hospital!!

This is a complete miracle!

Not only did they tell me to fast for 12 hours....

I get to the hospital and sit in the waiting room for an additional 15 minutes,

get my blood taken,

find out I am having 2 hour glucose test (I thought it was 1 or 3?!),

need to wait until they receive the results from my fasting blood test before I can take the drink and then the official two hours begins,

an hour later {and many waves of nausea} I can finally take my drink,

I was hoping to take it somewhere secret like the bathroom in case I would throw up or gag and I had to take it in the room with the nurse watching me,

Awkwardddddd,

AND the only flavor they had was Lemon-lime! Yucky!

I discretely gagged my way through it, trying my best to keep it down because then the test would be canceled.

wait an hour,

thankful for the many trashy gossip magazines they had laying around,

kept burping it up,

trying so hard not to have it come back up,

made it to the last hour and I survived!!!

I ate my granola bar as I was leaving the room.

I didn't get sick,  Adalyn seemed to love {or hate?} the drink, and now we pray that I passed!!

Thanks for all your encouraging words!! I am so happy this is behind me!

I did enjoy seeing the couples come into the hospital with their bags, and watching all the dads leave with the gifts and bags to load up the car for their ride home with their new bundle of joy and thinking that will be us in just 3 short months!

I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it was still pretty bad!

I hope to never have to go that long without feeding me and baby again :)

Glucose Test- Advice??

Okay so tomorrow is the dreaded glucose test.

Seriously, I am DREADING it!!

Probably since day 1 of being pregnant and now the time has come.

I'm not super nervous that I will fail it, I am more nervous about throwing up in the waiting room.

I can't eat for 12 hours- from 8 to 8. Which is fine, I think.

But then...I need to wake up, get ready and head to the hospital- all without eating!!

{do you think I can eat like one little piece of toast??}

I have never done this.

I don't think it's possible.

I need to eat asap. Like,  pretty much the second I open my eyes.

So I am hoping that I will either a. miraculously not get sick at all or b. get sick before my appointment.

So after the no-eating-getting-sick-in-the-morning situation, I need to get blood drawn.

THEN I need to chug that nasty drink {is it really that bad?? Be honest!} I can't even drink water fast without feeling nauseous. How am I going to do this?!

Oh and yes, I am totally giving myself extra anxiety to help the situation.

Or not.

So please, if you have any advice or encouraging words please let me know!!

Hurricane Irene

So my 27 Week Belly shot is a little different this week.

Just a taste of what the weather is like at the Smelly household.

Nothing too too crazy yet, but apparently the worst has yet to come.

So far it's just a rainy day with really strong winds.

I imagined the umbrella lifting me up like Mary Poppins- kind of strong.

It didn't happen though.

Church was cancelled, we still have power but lights keep flickering, DirecTv is still working, I cooked a yummy pot roast through the night {is there anything better on a rainy day??}, I made some banana bread, we rented three movies, and I'm working on some projects for the nursery.

Hope everyone in Irene's path is staying safe!!

Show Us Your Life: Baby Shower Ideas

Today over at Kelly's Korner is Baby Shower Ideas.

Some people get thrown a surprise shower,

Some people get thrown a planned shower

and some people are a little controlling, enjoys decorating and party planning and has a little amount of friends.

Oh, hi. That would be me.

Currently my momma is my best friend, I know she could and she would throw me a surprise shower if she knew that's what I wanted but a. She knows I don't like surprises and b. It's more fun for us to plan it together.

I originally wanted to have the shower in September so I wouldn't look back at pictures and feel like a complete whale. But the weekends were filling fast and we bumped it to October.

We were thinking Pink Lemonade theme. I have been loving pink lemonade and I saw some cute stuff on Pinterest, but now that the shower is in October that seemed too summerish.

So we have changed the theme to "Falling in love with Adalyn Faith"

We are keeping it simple with just yummy snacks, desserts and breads.

apple. crisp. mmmmm

Here are some ideas I found through Pinterest.
{{ If you're on there, follow me! I am good at pinning everything, but still don't completely know how to find/follow others. }}

We still aren't sure on any games to play.
We weren't planning on doing too many- probably just the measure the belly one and I saw a Price is Right one that looked like fun.

Any fun game ideas??

Any good fall recipes??

26 Weeks

So my last post was a pregnancy post so I know this is pretty lame.

But I got a new charger. And even better...it was FREE!!

So life can now go on :)

Milestones for week 26:
:: Reached the double digit countdown ::
:: Officially decided to give cloth diapering a try ::
:: Can find where she is in my belly::
::Quadrupled Doubled in size::
::Losing my back- it pretty much goes shoulder blades to butt::
::Didn't get sick until 5 days into this week-I was thinking this was going to be my first week in 20 weeks without getting sick. I told Mr. B that I didn't want to tell him because I didn't want to jinx it....but I told him anyways. Sure enough the next morning...there goes my breakfast. I did learn that fruit loops come up real easy though :) ::

Gender: GIRL!!!

Total Weight Gained: I have no idea- let's say +10, feeling like I put on a couple more pounds in my thighs and arms.

Sleep: Most nights = insomnia. My best sleep is usually 6:30-9 in the morning {after Mr. B leaves, hmmm coincidence?}

Maternity Clothes: Still LOVE. Wear mostly non-maternity shirts and dresses, but love my shorts and capris. My non-maternity shirts look too tight/silly now, but I just need to make it through 1 more month of summer clothes and then bring on the fall sweaters and jeans!

Best Moment of the Week: Finding a great deal on some cloth diapers!

Food Cravings: Appetite is definitely coming back- wohoo! Can't think of any real cravings yet. But now I need to pace myself because I can eat a lot.

Aversions: I think I can handle steak now, but still not ready for Wishbone Italian Dressing.

Symptoms: Heartburn and still getting sick. Starting to get back pain.

Movement: Finally starting to feel a little more again, she scared me for a few days. But that doesn't take much.

What I miss: Not feeling sick in the car, being able to slowly wake up/relax in bed until I am ready to get up, a good night sleep. But who cares- it's all SO worth it!

What I'm looking forward to: Glucose test being over with!! I go on Wednesday- eek!!

So this week started off looking smaller than I had in the past. This lasted for two days and then all of a sudden BAM- I'm really big. You'll see the growth in my 27 week pic!

25 Weeks

My computer charger is busted and I am too cheap to buy a new one- well a new one cost $80 so I don't really think I would consider myself cheap for not wanting to get a new one- but it's kind of a necessity. I have been borrowing my sister's when I visit so that gives me a good day of use, but when it'd dead-it's dead until further notice. Currently she is grounded from her electronics so I was pumped to take the charger for a few days and now this one isn't working....starting to think it might have something to do with the user??? But how could I break them? I just plug it in! So anyways, my battery is back on red but I wanted to post my 25 Week update before I forget and then hit my 27th week {wohoo!!}

I reached a few new milestones in my 25th week- none that were enjoyable in any way.

Milestones:
::Woke up for church on Sunday, stretched my legs out and experienced my first ever charlie horse. Um. OUCH!!! That was my first leg cramp in my life and I pray it will be my last. Holy painful!

Started to cry {and laugh at myself} during a little video of an Olympic race that was showing at church. I didn't exactly know why I was crying. Was it touching? Yes. Was it cry worthy? No. But there wasn't much I could do to control the tears. {kind of like how I can't control the attitude or sudden bursts of anger at times...really, I can't ;)}

Made a delicious Baked Ziti for dinner, went to bed with super bad heartburn. My magical heartburn shirt that I will be posting about one day in the future was not working and this was a big deal! I tried sitting up, I even drank a cup of milk {yuck!!} and nothing was helping. Sure enough, at midnight it gets so bad I realize I really am going to throw up. I have had this feeling before, but nothing ever came up. Well not this time. It was one of the worst throw up sessions so far. Needless to say- I will not be having Baked Ziti anytime soon. It burned so bad when it was in and when it was coming out. And then I brushed my teeth like 10 times- I couldn't believe they were still there in the morning. I really thought the acid would burn them away. Okay, maybe that's a little extreme, but it was bad.

And guess what? All that happened on Sunday! Fun milestones, huh?

Followed by Tuesday where I anything I ate came right back up every time I finished my very last bite. I was so confused with what was going on! I felt fine, I ate fine and both times for breakfast and lunch the second I finished it came right back up. What's the point of eating if it's not even in my system long enough for her or I to digest it and get some nutrients?! Thankfully, as far as I can remember- the rest of the week was pretty uneventful just one more morning of just morning sickness and that I can handle.

Other misc. stats:

Gender: GIRL!!!

Total Weight Gained: I have no idea- let's say +9, feeling like I put on a couple more pounds in my thighs and arms.

Sleep: Most nights = insomnia. My best sleep is usually 6:30-9 in the morning {after Mr. B leaves, hmmm coincidence?}

Maternity Clothes: Still LOVE. Wear mostly non-maternity shirts and dresses, but love my shorts and capris. My non-maternity shirts look too tight/silly now, but I just need to make it through 1 more month of summer clothes and then bring on the fall sweaters and jeans!

Best Moment of the Week: Finding a great deal on fabric for her nursery

Food Cravings: Appetite is definitely coming back- wohoo! Can't think of any real cravings yet. But now I need to pace myself because I can eat a lot.

Aversions: I think I can handle steak now, but still not ready for Wishbone Italian Dressing.

Symptoms: Heartburn and still getting sick. I'm worried that I am past the 2nd trimester wonderfulness and quickly making my way into 3rd trimester with more sickness and heartburn again. But the faster that comes, the faster she is here so that's ok! Hormonal/emotional!

Movement: Just a little :(

What I miss: Not feeling sick in the car, being able to slowly wake up/relax in bed until I am ready to get up, a good night sleep. But who cares- it's all SO worth it!

What I'm looking forward to: Officially starting the nursery. Feeling like time is flying and I really need to start cranking those nursery projects!

Tuesdays Thoughts/Iphone Pics

1. The temperature in my house is 70 degrees. I don't think it has been below 80 since like the winter! It feels amazing! Especially for this prego mama who doesn't handle the heat well.

2. We sold our tickets to Kenny Chesney's Going Coastal Tour this morning. It was an birthday present {I think?} from Mr. B back in November- I really wanted to go and was super excited! But fast forward 9 months and being 7 months pregnant - knowing it's a long day with lots of walking, lots of people and uncomfortable stadium seats and it just wasn't sounding quite as enjoyable as it once was. I'm now thinking more along the lines of a weekend away and a prenatal massage :)

3. The house hunting is on hold until at least next summer. Time is flying by and we still had a lot to buy/get done before Adalyn gets here so we decided we would wait and make do in our little duplex. So I made a giant to do list and I've been doing little projects around the house that I'd like to get finished before she is here!

4. Hoping to officially start on the nursery next week! It will be a burden lifted, that's for sure!

5. I have been seriously considering cloth diapering. I will do a post about that soon! I am about 90% sold on the idea, but it's that sticky, nasty, gag worthy poopy diaper that will need to be sprayed/dunked/scraped off that is holding the other hefty 10%.

6. Apparently I don't have many thoughts floating around because I am drawing a big fat blank so I will post some iphone pics like I have seen others do lately. Considering I have ummmm 1,318 photos on there I think I can find a few ideas.....

7. I recently learned that there is a difference between Baking Soda and Baking Powder and chocolate chip cookies will not come out the same when baked with just baking powder.

6. My cute puppy taking a nap

7. Naptime for puppy, mama and baby :)

8. Ben leaves his hangers in the bathroom every.single.morning. Thankfully he now puts his boxers in the hamper instead of on the floor, next we are working on the hangers. Anyways, he hangs them on the towel rack directly across from the toilet. This morning as I was squatting to pull up my shorts {you know the super sexy pregnant squat} my hair got caught in the hanger and I thought it was hilarious.
Clearly, it doesn't take much to amuse me these days :)

Going to see The Help today with Mama Grace! Heard it was a good movie, haven't read the book yet though! Happy Tuesday!

24 Weeks

25 weeks tomorrow!
Here are the stats for week 24:

::This week's Milestone:
Felt some crazy movements- not just kicks but her whole body moving around- from like 11:30- 12 at night. It was so cool, I tried to wake Mr. B up, but he was out. Hoping she will do it again!

Big growth spurt. Starting to get uncomfortable, exhausted and hormonal. Starting to feel fat and too big for 24 weeks, but I know everyone is so different and it's just part of the process.

Yes, I am starting to waddle.

No, I am not having twins.

Yes, those were two comments I received this week. ::

                                                                         Gender: GIRL!!!

Total Weight Gained: I really need to invest in a scale {or maybe I shouldn't!} I weighed myself at my parents' this afternoon so I'd say +7.

Sleep: Most nights = insomnia. My best sleep is usually 6:30-9 in the morning {after Mr. B leaves, hmmm coincidence?}

Maternity Clothes: Still LOVE. Wear mostly non-maternity shirts and dresses, but love my shorts and capris. My non-maternity shirts look too tight/silly now, but I just need to make it through 1 more month of summer clothes and then bring on the fall sweaters and jeans!

Best Moment of the Week: Feeling her roll all around

Food Cravings: Appetite is definitely coming back- wohoo! Can't think of any real cravings yet. But now I need to pace myself because I can eat a lot.

Aversions: I think I can handle steak now, but still not ready for Wishbone Italian Dressing.

Symptoms: Heart burn and still getting sick. I'm worried that I am past the 2nd trimester wonderfulness and quickly making my way into 3rd trimester with more sickness and heartburn again. But the faster that comes, the faster she is here so that's ok! Hormonal/emotional!

Movement: Yes!

What I miss: Not feeling sick in the car, being able to slowly wake up/relax in bed until I am ready to get up, a good night sleep. But who cares- it's all SO worth it!

What I'm looking forward to:  Hoping she will do another turn so I can feel her like I use to and hoping she does some more crazy body rolls for Mr. B to feel!

Weekly Wisdom: Make a timeline/to-do list because time flies by and will continue to fly by!

This weekend was our family reunion at camp, so I didn't get a picture taken before church like I usually do. So this weeks photo is a comfy clothes, rainy day Tuesday night pic. I knew if I didn't do it then I wouldn't and I didn't want to be missing a week!

I'm a little nervous to see what I will look like in 16 weeks! :)

Snatch Up This Good Deal!

I was so excited this morning when I woke up to this email.

"$60 to Land's End for $30"

Ummmm yes, please!!

Mr. B is in need of some new work clothes and this is his favorite store!

After looking through the clearance section online I realized he could get a lot of good clothes for just $60.

I was so excited about this deal I decided to buy 2 that's $60 for $120 worth of clothes- if you buy things on clearance your mind might explode at the amount of money saved!

Hopefully it won't explode. Thankfully mine stayed intact. But it did get really excited.

I just bought an Old Navy one a couple months ago and used it on some adorable clothes for Adalyn for next summer. It was a steal!

So head on over and snatch up this deal, it's only a 24 hour deal so you got to be quick!

You do have until October 5th to redeem it though, so take your time perusing.

What's even better- if you can believe it- if you get just 3 friends to grab this deal too....you get one free!

So how bout 3 of you lovely followers aka bff {duh} snatch up this great Land's End deal and then spread the word and you get it free and I get one free and we can all go on with the day with a great big smile.

Pretty awesome, right?

Hurry :)

SUV/Crossover Advice

Hopefully in the next month or so we will be trading in my car for a little SUV.

Something with AWD to help keep us and the baby safe through the crazy winters.

Something along the lines of a CR-V, Rav4, Sorento, Sportage, Sante Fe etc.

Wondering if you have one??

Which one?

Love it? Hate it?

Does it have enough room?

Have you had problems?

Spill it all.

Please.

And thank you!

Friday Funny

:: Warning- this is a slightly inappropriate conversation ::

My 14 year old sister slept over yesterday and we were getting ready to go to my Dr. appointment and the mall.

The mall around here is fairly small and they have been working on putting in a Dick's Sporting Goods store for a while and it just recently opened.

She was at the mall a couple days before with Mama Grace and they checked out the store.

Our conversation went something like this:

Sister: Have you been to the mall since Dick's has been open?

Me: No

Sister: It's so big.

Me: Yeah I know, all Dick's are that big.

Silence. followed by laughter.

Those non-intentional inappropriate conversations are the funniest.

I guess they are asking for it in naming the store Dick's though!

23 Weeks

Today is the last day of my 23rd week!
I had my 24 week appointment today and everything looked great and we are measuring right on track! It's always reassuring to hear that sweet little heartbeat, too!

::This week's Milestone:
Thursday July 28th- Mr. B and I were trying to hear her with the stethoscope and everywhere he put it she would kick it really hard. It was cute/funny.
Saturday July 30th- felt a big somersault and it was very weird! She was turning all around and it was the weirdest feeling- made me feel sick, like all my insides were twisting. Of course my thought is please don't get all wrapped up in the umbilical cord! Ever since then I haven't felt her as much as I was- so sad {and made me paranoid!}. I guess she switched positions at some point during her crazy tumbling sessions.   ::

                                                                         Gender: GIRL!!!

Total Weight Gained: Got my official weigh in at the Dr this morning:  +6.

Sleep: Most nights = insomnia. My best sleep is usually 6:30-9 in the morning {after Mr. B leaves, hmmm coincidence?}

Maternity Clothes: Still LOVE. Wear mostly non-maternity shirts and dresses, but love my shorts and capris. Most of my non-maternity shirts are not looking quite as cute as they use to.

Best Moment of the Week: Hearing her heartbeat at the appointment today

Food Cravings: Appetite is definitely coming back- wohoo! Can't think of any real cravings yet. But now I need to pace myself because I can eat a lot.

Aversions: I think I can handle steak now, but still not ready for Wishbone Italian Dressing.

Symptoms: Heart burn and still getting sick. This week I think I only got sick once though so that's a big improvement! But so far there hasn't been one week since week 6 that I haven't gotten sick.

Movement: Yes! Feeling lots of flutters and some big movements too. Different feelings now- feel like we are back to mostly flutters and some little kicks since her somersault.

What I miss: Not feeling sick in the car, being able to slowly wake up/relax in bed until I am ready to get up, a good night sleep. But who cares- it's all SO worth it!

What I'm looking forward to:  Hoping she will do another turn so I can feel her again!

Weekly Wisdom: Warn your husband that once that raging hormones are turned on they are really hard to turn off. So be careful! It will be irrational, he won't understand it, you won't understand it- but you can't control it.

Answer

Thanks for all your prayers!

Mr. B & I got our clear answer....

The house went under contract the night before we were meeting with our real estate agent.

Boo.

It has only been on the market for a week and a half! The deal was just too good!

We have peace about it though, we wanted a clear answer and we got one.

And it's funny how you can justify how it's so perfect when you want it, and how it's not so perfect when it doesn't work out, isn't it?

So we are thankful for a clear answer, we are going to keep looking until October and if nothing comes up until then then we will wait and start looking again in May.

It's obviously a huge decision and we want to make sure we make the right choice.

I'm kind of bummed because I would like to keep working on the nursery, but not if we find a new house in the next couple months and have a different room- so I guess I will just be pinning ideas for now :)

Also, random question: How do I reply to comments? Is it through my email just hit reply?

Trusting

Mr. B and I are always going back and forth on when we think we are ready to buy our first home.
Typically when he thinks we are ready, I think no way.
When I think we are ready, he thinks no way.
That's just how we roll.

Rent is expensive here and sometimes we feel like we are just wasting our money when we could be putting that to a mortgage.
But with a mortgage also comes the property taxes, extra money spent on utilities, fixing things around the house and having to pay for things that break or need to be repaired.

And with a duplex comes a landlord. A place that isn't yours, a dog that loves the backyard but you're always paranoid because she loves to dig holes and leaves pee stained grass spots everywhere, and people who live above you and essentially little to no privacy.

We finally both decided that we were going to stick out the renters life and start looking at houses more seriously come February/March with hopes to move by May/June.

Thankfully, at this point, the market is on our side and our eyes have been peeled and will continue to be  for good deals.

Literally 2 minutes after I emailed our realtor that we are taking a break and will connect again in February-I check online one more time to see if there are any steals out there.

And I find it.

Our house.

Sidenote: I have a one track mind. When something is in my head it needs to happen now. I need it now.
I become obsessed.

So obviously I'm obsessed.

We had a showing of the house last week and loved it.

It's super out-dated and needs lots of work, but it's just what we are looking for.

I felt like it was a house just for me and Mr. B. I'm not so sure everyone else would love it as much as we did. But we saw lots of potential.

We could totally see this being our first home.

Having a place to call our home.

A home to bring our little Adalyn to that she will grow up in.

A nursery that is painted in the correct shade of gray.

A home for Roxie to play in the backyard.

A home to grow a family in.

A home to build lots of memories in.

Problem is:

A. Mr. B has no credit and is the primary income. I have good credit and make income for craigslist deals, baby clothes and the occasional shopping spree.

B. We aren't pre-approved yet {typically people get pre-approved then find a house, but well we just aren't normal- duh}

C. Our realtor is on vacation for the week.

Therefore, we talk to a few different mortgage specialist trying to find a way to make this work. Trying to find the best deal and trying to do it quickly before someone else will put an offer in and we lose the house.

We have sent in a million and one documents including all our bills for the past 12 months and now we wait.

There's a fine line between being pushing and rushing things too quickly, potentially things that maybe aren't meant to be, and being active and working hard to get what you need to get into order to make things happen.
Sometimes it's hard to know where to draw the line.

So currently we are waiting. Praying and hoping. Most importantly, we are trusting.

We hope to get pre-approved and get the ball rolling.

We hope the sellers will accept our offer.

We are praying for doors to be clearly opened or closed.

We are praying for peace no matter what the outcome is.

We are praying that we will work as team and agree on all things as this process continues.

I think Mr. B has learned to carefully watch his words and not get my hopes up. Typically I don't believe things until they happen, but I feel like things are happening and I will be pretty disappointed if we change our minds or things don't work out at this point.

But what we really need to do is- do what we can and then rest in Lord and trust that this is all in His hands.

It's really hard to do sometimes.

Fix it Friday

I've been obsessed busy with finding cheap things and spicing them up some with spray paint or fabric.

Hopefully soon Mr. B will realize that I am not just buying/collecting junk, but kind of know what I am doing.

I thought I'd share some of my most recent projects around the house.

I realized I'm really bad at taking "before" pictures though, so in the future that is something I'm going to try and be better at.

It makes the process that much more rewarding, ya know?

I realize some people {like Mr. B and Mama Grace} would much rather buy new items than buy supplies and take time fixing something, but for those frugal and crafty people...this is fun.

For reals.

I found two matching lamps at Goodwill for 2.99 each. {Hello, good deal. You don't realize how expensive lamps are until you're on the lookout!}.  They were gold and u.g.l.y.  First I painted them an off-whitish color and I really liked them until I put it in our room and it looked very blah. I went with a dark espresso color instead and it looks much better. Next is to cover the lampshade. Oh and maybe straighten it out, too. We will see.

Bought this frame for $4 at Savers and planned on making it into a chalkboard for the kitchen for little notes or bible verses. It was hard trying to find the right color in a spray paint to match our tealish kitchen. I tried to make it look a little distressed and kind of failed. It still adds a nice touch to the kitchen though and is a fun project to make. Now it needs one of those long skinny signs that say "Bless our Home" or something above it. A trip to Hobby Lobby is in my future.

This was a brown scentsy warmer from Mama K, I really wanted it in the living room but it didn't really match. I went on the search for some orange spray paint, but could only find bright construction cone orange....um no thanks. So when I was at Michael's I found some Terra Cotta flower spray that was the perfect color I was looking for. I wasn't sure how it was going to work since it is made for flowers, but it did! I love how it turned out and use it every day.

I received this cute little gown as a hand-me-down before we found out we were pregnant. It was a little on the boyish side, but I liked the color and new we would be using gowns in the beginning. I used my seam ripper and  took off the little turtle and duck tag and made some flowers out of scrap fabric and sewed them on.

And here are some misc. projects with no before pictures....
1. Was a green lamp I spray painted the dark espresso and re-covered the off-white lamp shade with some brown zebra fabric.

2. I had some old pillows that I recovered to add some pop of color to our living room.

3. The two small vases were $1.99 and $2.99 from Savers- they were just the colors I was looking for! The bigger vase I picked up at a yard sale for 50 cents. It was green glass, but I knew I could spray paint it and put it somewhere in the house. When I decided to add orange as an accent to our living room and found the two little vases I knew just what I would do with the bigger vase. It came out really good, and no one would ever know it was bright green.

4. I have been spicing up some plain onesies that I have. I am still a newbie, but getting better and have lots of onesies to practice on!

Have you done any fun DIY projects recently??
I love looking in pinterest and other blogs to find some new idea!
